Street Parking Update: Thank you to all who took a moment to write the FDOT about removal of the street parking spaces around our restaurant. Due in part to the large number of emails and phone calls received, the FDOT has agreed to meet with us and our neighbors in person in early December to review (and hopefully revise) the plan. While it is unlikely that we will be able to save them all, I am hopeful that we can preserve many of the spots currently slated for removal. We'll keep you posted!

As you may know, Laina hails from a Slavic family, and she's been looking forward to making pierogi at the restaurant all year. The only catch: pierogi are labor-intensive and take several hours to prepare, even with a second set of hands. We've decided it would be too difficult to add them to the permanent menu. Instead, we're going to prepare pierogi once per month for Pierogi Night. Please join us for our first Pierogi Night Friday, September 26th. If you've never tried authentic, made-from-scratch pierogi, you're in for a treat!

Looking back over the last week, Kelly and I are grateful for all the help we received from family, friends, and concerned community do-gooders. Thank You. There was a point when our spirits were broken, our muscles were stiff, and our shop-vacs were overheating... it may sound cliché, but, we really couldn't have made it through the week without their help. If you know anyone on our list of volunteers, please give them a hearty handshake and clap on the back, and thank them for their community spirit. And to our volunteers, please call on us in your hour of need. We'll be there!

We are unsure of our reopening date, but we will re-open as soon as the water recedes. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused our guests. Update: We re-opened Tuesday 8/26 at 5pm. Come on in!

Is it just me, or does it seem like there are more "Best Of Dining" contests this year than usual? Two more ongoing "Best Of" contests were brought to our attention this week: Orlando Sentinel's "101 Best" and VegNews Magazine's "Veggie Awards." The Sentinel's 101 Best is focused on dining, shopping and entertainment across 101 categories in the Central Florida area. Suggestions for Ethos votes include "Best New Restaurant," "Best Vegetarian," and "Best Brunch." More exciting is VegNews' 2008 Veggie Awards - help put Orlando on the vegetarian map by voting Ethos for Best Vegetarian Restaurant in the USA! Note: as we are a new restaurant, you will have to write us in at the bottom of the list. Voting for both ends August 31st. Oh, and both contests feature voter prizes! Happy voting! Good news, bad news. The good news: Orlando Sentinel restaurant critic Scott Joseph reviewed our restaurant! The bad news: the review is more an anti-vegan editorial than a restaurant review. However, publicity is publicity, and, thankfully, it has somehow been a positive thing: we've received a lot of comments from folks who read the review, and it has even created some new guests for us! Anyway, we invite you to read it for yourself online at the Sentinel.
